Sheridan Lifts is a Specialist Lift Company based in Manchester. With over 40 years’ experience we are a well-established and reputable company offering services nationwide.

Sheridan Lifts are looking for an experienced individual with the skill set to support and develop the day-to-day process within our Commercial department. The individual must be efficient organised and motivated to form part of an established team.

The Role:

Working for one of the largest independent Lift business’ in the UK, providing a whole host of vertical transport solutions to construction and end users.

The departments focus on Architects, Engineers, Construction Companies, and developers to provide solutions for their projects.

We are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to manage and support our growing Commercial team. As a Quantity Surveyor within the business, you will be working on some exciting projects as well as developing your skillset both operationally and technically.

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for overseeing and supporting all commercial aspects within the business along with aiding in the development of the Commercial team.

The Quantity Surveyor will negotiate Sub-Contracts with Clients and End users. They will a have a good knowledge of our obligations within these contracts. They will also be responsible for keeping records up to date and filed correctly.

The Quantity Surveyor will manage correspondence between Sheridan Lifts and the purchaser; this will include Applications for Payment, agreement of variations, handling of contra charges, and the settlement of disputes.

The Quantity Surveyor will have exceptional organisational skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple tasks. The candidate must be able to work to deadlines and be able to work on a wide range of tasks that will support the different departments within the business.

 

The Duties:

  • Supporting the Commercial team and allocating workload.
  • Attend Pre-Start meetings when requested and review Pre-start minutes.
  • Review, negotiate and agree Sub-Contract order documents.
  • Review and negotiation of collateral warranties.
  • Reconciliation of client payment notices with accounts department.
  • Communicating with the Clients and end users.
  • Issuing applications for payment to the client or through the relevant portal.
  • Attending inhouse meetings with Design and Project departments.
  • Aiding in forecasting, allocating and chasing payments.
  • Negotiating final accounts.
  • Aid in resolving disputes with clients.
  • Issuing Early Warning Notices and Extensions of Time.
  • Ensuring best commercial practice whilst monitoring and minimising risk to the business
  • Developing and optimising processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy of business information
  • Reporting to the Commercial Manager

 

What experience and expectation requirements we have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Degree or equivalent training relevant experience
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
  • Experience dealing with all type of contracts i.e. JCT, NEC and Bespoke.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with good negotiation skills.
  • Highly motivated to deliver quality projects.
  • Ability to work on own as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and demonstrates ability to meet deadlines.
  • IT literate and the ability to adapt to new systems.
  • Good administration skills

 

Experience within a Sub-Contract environment is preferable.
