In conjunction with One Manchester and Manchester City Council and continuing our work within the community we serve, Sheridan Lifts have recently assisted with some work experience to a budding young hopeful.
We are a business that likes to give opportunities to enthusiastic team players and those eager and willing to learn. If we can help, we normally do!
In fact, we recently ran a case study on how one young man recently turned his career around after training on the job with Sheridan Lifts. Anthony is now one of our most popular and best lift engineers.
This time, we offered a work placement here via Mploy Experience, and were pleased to welcome young Ryan Jones to the business to learn a little about what it takes to be a lift engineer for a busy UK lift company.
Ryan has been with the team over the past week following Paul Alben on his day to day duties as our main domestic servicing and repairs engineer. As you can see from the pictures, Ryan has been getting involved and learning the ropes as he goes.
The life of an engineer is anything but dull with no two calls the same. Attending the city council’s variety of properties, meeting the occupiers and assessing the situations may be water off a duck’s back to our experienced engineers, but for Ryan it was an eye-opening and enlightening experience.
Assets onsite can vary from stair lifts to through floor lifts to hoists to step lifts, and Ryan has now experienced both the standard attendances to carry out routine services as well as the emergency call outs.
Following the completion of this visit Ryan commented how even though within such a short space of time he was highly interested in persuading this career in the lift industry. So we must have taught him well!
Being such a young lad, he has plenty of time to decide what career path to take. Hopefully we can facilitate this should he wish to proceed down this avenue in the future.
