In line with our continuing commitment to provide community care, support and assistance Sheridan Lifts have been shopping again and donated £50 worth of food for the Friends of Fallowfield food bank.
The Place at Platt Lane operates to help the vulnerable and is an important community facility in the region.
The food bank forms a crucial facility for many in-need individuals and families in South Manchester, and is utilised by residents from Manchester City Council, One Manchester and MSV Housing, amongst others.
Here are Remi, Joleen and Julie (left to right) from our team dropping off the items.
The Friends of Fallowfield (FOF) have since the start of the Covid pandemic offered residents – young and old – much needed support.
The members have been out in the community delivering food parcels to vulnerable people / families, dropping off prescriptions as well as calling in on those who live alone and have suffered isolation to make sure they are safe and check if they need anything. They do a fantastic job!
What’s more, over the festive period the FOF delivered 50 Christmas hampers for families, the elderly and vulnerable (shielding or self-isolating).
We have delivered several hampers like this one below that we donated to the food bank.
FOF have held tea and biscuit sessions within the Place at Platt Lane community library when it has been open as well as a knitting club and provided a hub where people can just call in for a natter.
Every week the FOF have packed food parcels and passed them out to vulnerable people who have rung the library and waited outside. In short the FOF and The Place have become the centre of all things great in Fallowfield. A place where people can get help, get support or just chat.
It was our pleasure to help them out with this donation.
