Throughout the month of March 2021, staff at Sheridan Lifts are coming together to raise money for men’s mental health charity, Andy’s Man Club.
According to the Office of National Statistics, men accounted for about three-quarters of suicide deaths registered in 2019. With suicide rates increasing throughout the pandemic, the issue of mental health amongst the male population has never been more prevalent.
Championed by our very own Dylan Sheridan, our staff will come together and attempt to walk, run or cycle 50 miles per person during the month whilst raising money for the Manchester charity, which is very close to Dylan’s heart.
Dylan said:
“With suicide rates soaring in the UK, and the bulk of those being male, its never been a better time to support a charity like this.
“Andy’s Man Club do terrific work in our community with a core focus of encouraging men to talk about their problems and challenges, which they promote via the #itsOKtotalk hashtag
They’ve been a huge personal help to me and people I am close to, and I want to give something back to them”.
Issuing a rallying call to his Sheridan Lifts colleagues, Dylan continued:
“All you have to do is run, cycle or walk 50 miles in 31 days in March 2021. If you have good mobility then there is no excuse. I want you do this and I’ll be disappointed if you don’t!
It’s only 1.6 miles per day and that’s a 20 minute walk”
Well, he is certainly persuasive!
You can raise funds both independently by responding to Dylan’s challenge or via contributing to Dylan’s Go Fund Me page. All funds will be collected and donated to Andy’s Man Club on 31st March 2021. You can also join the What’s App chat group here.
“Lets all do something positive and productive this lockdown and make a real change to people’s lives” he said.
Well, I for one am in and you can chart our progress across social media outlets including Linked In and Twitter.
