Community Spirit in Bolton!

Sheridan Lifts – The name has been around for decades from forming in 2004, with the former P&S Lifts going back as far as the early 80’s. Founded by Stan Sheridan, this post will dig deep into the backbone of our ethos as a business.

Back in June, we received an inbound enquiry from a Hospice in Bolton who wished to test the market for their lift maintenance services. We get many enquiries like this every day, same old procedures you’d think? Not so much!

It so happens this hospice is very close to the hearts of our Managing Director, Tony Sheridan and his Son, our Operations Director Daniel Sheridan, who sadly lost Stan back in 1994 and seen out his last precious few days at Bolton hospice. Daniel’s mother-in-law Janet, also sadly passed away at the same hospice many years later. Bolton Hospice, to say the least, has a permanent place in the hearts of the Sheridan Family forever.

Once the above came to light, Chris Chadwick our Commercial Director was instructed to attend site and carry out a survey to provide a proposal for the ongoing maintenance. What the hospice didn’t know at this stage is that Sheridan Lifts will be providing a contract for all 6 lifts on site free of charge!! A small token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication for the hard work of an independent hospice providing the upmost care consistently for so many years.

Chris Chadwick, who himself has been with the business over a decade, had the pleasure of delivering the good news. Here’s what he had to say:

“In the time I’ve been here, I’ve secured prestigious contracts, worked on many projects providing social value, working with charities etc, but providing such good news to a Hospice so short on funding that requires maximum performance from local lift contractor, gave me a very fulfilling feeling. Its fair to say my heart was full to the brim after our meeting.

Working in this industry, providing services to healthcare providers, NHS and private hospitals across the UK with business-critical assets, this is a testament to Tony and Daniel as to how the Sheridan Family ethos are carried down each generation and passed on to even myself and other staff members. This token of appreciation will go a long way to providing stability to Bolton Hospice who I know will be forever grateful, with the money that would’ve been spent on our services, being distributed elsewhere to help others within the hospice facilities.

From a personal point of view, it emphasises the backing we have from the owners to let us run with a gesture like this and makes me feel fulfilled carrying out my duties as a Commercial Director. It’s had a positive impact on my own wellbeing, carrying out this type of gesture pulls on my heartstrings to say the least! I am looking forward to working very closely with Bolton Hospice for a very long time to come”

In return of our goodwill gesture, Sheridan Lifts have been given the honour of becoming an official “Platinum Patron” for the Hospice, an honour given to any people or businesses that are looking to make a positive impact in the local community by ways and means of donations and social value. The latter being the pinnacle of our duties for as long as the company has been established.

With the contract going live as of today, Sheridan donated a further £250 to the Hospice due to low funding due to the pandemic over the last 18 months.

It’s been a difficult time for everyone in this period, but our healthcare systems are the flagship of our local communities, and each person reading this will agree when we say, we wouldn’t know what do without every single one of you!

So to everyone over at Bolton Hospice, and to all other health care workers putting other people before yourselves on a daily basis, from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for everything you do!
